How it works

What is AAC Block?

Produced from basic materials such as sand, cement, lime, gypsum, water, and one of the world’s most abundant natural resources, silica sand, AAC block is a very resource efficient and cost effective way to build.

The high-pressure steam curing in autoclaves achieves a physically and chemically stable product with the average weight being approximately 20% of standard concrete. The volume of the block is 70-80% air content and comprises myriads of non-connecting air cells which, together with the solid structure of calcium silicate hydrates, give the material its incredibly diverse qualities.

This composition is part of what prevents the passage of heat, sound and moisture through the block, reinforcing its natural efficiencies.

AAC block provides excellent thermal insulation against high and low temperatures and has superior sound absorption and insulation qualities. It is non-combustible, decay free, non-allergenic and easy to handle and work. It can be drilled, chased, cut and shaped on site using conventional hand and power tools.

Building with Euroblock

construction detailsconstruction detailBuilding with the Euroblock system is simple and resourceful. The 240mm thick autoclaved aerated concrete block system is reinforced at intervals by Post and Beam steel cadge columns which are anchored into the foundations of the building and connected to the top ring Bond-beam that also forms the lintel load points.

It is suitable for both the external and internal walls of both single and two storied residential or light commercial buildings. The external surfaces are coated with a certified and recognized plaster system approved by Celco New Zealand Ltd. We offer the option of either installing 10mm plaster board on the internal exterior walls or a internal Paint finish plaster System. We recommend that the internal walls are constructed Timber frame and Plaster board.

Euroblock is available in several sizes of load bearing and non-load bearing forms for solid masonry construction. These products are suitable for the construction of single and multi-storey buildings such as residential homes, commercial and industrial buildings. They are used for external or internal load bearing and non-load bearing walls, infill walls to framed structures, fire break walls, fences, and floors.

There are a number of External propriety Plaster Systems approved to coat the Euroblock Masonry System*

The Economical Way To Build

house constructionEuroblock is an economical product to use in construction, particularly where a building has been designed in modules specifically to accommodate the dimensions of the product. When this is done, on-site cutting and wastage can be significantly reduced.

This approach also adds to the speed and simplicity of construction. Likewise, does the fact that the number of components and construction steps are less with a Euroblock building system than some other methods of construction, hence economies can be achieved that will have a favorable impact on the construction costs.

The extremely efficient thermal protection properties of Euroblock should be of considerable help to building owners in reducing their energy consumption and costs.
